The Moment
The moment everyone fears yet can't escape, the moment the world you know is changed forever.
The aftershock
The new future
The days after, when the world keeps moving though everything has changed. Everything seems to be moving but you
A new future, where healing begins alongside remembrance. Changed from what was known, but still promising.

"I had to handle a lot of things like an adult. I realized and faced that it was truly a long goodbye and accepted the total change in our lives."
After a deep loss, it’s natural to feel life won’t be the same, but with time a new sense of normal and happiness can emerge.
With highs and lows loss brings, this is not just a story of grief, but a story of recovery as well.

Why tackle this subject
This project was for a "Happiness" Initiative
Happiness is not just a state of mind but can also be triggered by certain sights, smells, sounds, and so on. My mom made me really happy. Seeing her after class made me happy, eating her food made me happy, and listening to her bad singing ( I didn't say that) made me happy.
Unfortunately, I'll never get to experience any of those things again. But she still left something behind for me to find happiness in. Helping others. My mom found so much happiness in helping others she made it her entire career, so by doing what my mother taught me I'm still able to experience a shared happiness that will never be taken. This is as much as a gift from her to the world as it is from me to those who might need it.
My amazing mother is the reason I'm even standing in this room to begin with. Her gift of sending me to college will hopefully bloom into something even she could never imagine. Don't thank me for this.
Thank my amazing mom,
Marlene Ball
